Guest guest
I felt great my first week and a half and then crashed. My doc wanted me to go back to work after 2 weeks and I went in at my 2 week appt and said I can't sleep and I am a walking zombie. I got 2 more weeks off. I needed it too. You are more than normal. gina > > > I've been feeling great for the past 2 weeks (I had my surgery > on > > > 5/24/05) but today I feel so darn tired! Guest guest
Good to know it's just not me! I slept great at first but I've actually had to resort to taking my prescription for sleeping the past couple of nights because I was only getting 3-4 hours of sleep. I've slept great the last 2 nights (with the help of the pills) so maybe I'm just trying to recover for the 3-4 days with 3-4 hours of sleep. I had planned on being at the meeting tonight but I'm so darn tired I might have to wait until next week and go! Thanks for making me feel normal ! Guest guest
Hi TIna I had a horrible time at first with sleeping at night ,i swore they put an alarm clock in me that would go off everynight at 3 am, someone in the group said they had the same problem and they ate just a little carbohydrate before they went to bed and i tried that for a week or so and it helped and then i was ok on my own, i think you need more rest than you think you do, and i think its all normal. i napped some in the day time for the first three even the fourth week from surgery. I was lucky enough to have a month off. good luck colleenTina wrote: Good to know it's just not me! Guest guest
Chriso, I also have a 4 yr. old little girl with autism. My child did not have D, but, more constipation. Anyway, she was on sleeping and behavior meds. (clonidine & adderall). We weaned her off these drugs before starting SCD just to see if the diet itself would help with these issues and it has! No more meds. Also sleeping all night now. Her constipation has become scattered at most. She goes almost everyday. She is also satarting to become verbal now! She has been on SCD for 4 months. I hope this is a big encouragement! Jenn also on SCD for GI issues. question > Hi all after reading alot of the Breaking the vicious cycle, i wanted to ask a question . My child is autistic and i want to try the SCD diet. He does not have any Diarhrea. He is very much the opposite. Does that mean the diet will not be beneficial? > Any way kind regards > Chriso [ Cyprus] > > >

Not every one that benefits with the Specific Carbohydrate Diet has diaharrea. In my case, there was constipation. Many parents here report improvement in autism behaviors after using this diet. There may be a negative reaction at first as die off symptoms from bad gut bacteria occur. When healing begins you should see imorvement. A good trial period is one month. Carol F. Many without diarrhea have found the diet very helpful. Guest guest
It sounds like your son has sensitized to some of the foods on the introductory diet. I'm guessing that he sensitizes easily due to a leaky gut. Are you using digestive enzymes? Sometimes they can allow a person to eat a food they've sensitized to without having a reaction. Also, you might wish to investigate a process known as NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique), in order to expand his list of SCD-legal foods. Many alternative health care practitioners will know of NAET practitioners in your area. If the circles and stomach aches started after the addition of cooked pears, apples and squash it might be good to go back to the intro for a day or two and then slowly readd each of these separately. I'd suggest starting with the pear, then the squash and then the applesauce. Are all homemade. peeled and cooked? Has he ever had problems with phenols? Any other symptoms? Guest guest
Sheila, I did do just that. I made everything from scratch, peeled, cooked etc. I first added cooked pears, then squash, then apples. He didn't have a reaction to any of it initially. I gave in today and gave him some kasha for breakfast and he perked right up. I think it might have to do with his metabolic problems w/fats. I'm just unsure how to proceed from here. Guest guest
Hi Colleen, Try removing the apples if you are still having trouble since it was the last item added. What kind of sqaush are you using? Has there been any changes in his stool? Is he still having stomach aches? Have you tried epsom salt baths and/or activated charcoal? What is his metabolic condition (w/ fats)? Are you giving him any legal diluted juices etc.? Sheila, I did do just that. Guest guest
Theresa I'm on Cytoxan & I'm not sure what blood levels you mean. I'm not a nurse but I do have my little slip of paper that somehow came home with me with a bunch of numbers on it. If you can give me the initials I can tell you what my count is but they haven't ever said anything about a transfusion to me. Oh yea, can't remember who asked about the Cytoxan but they've had me on 1400 dose for a while now. grannylunatic@... __________________________________________________
