Guest guest
Steph, I agree with your post to . I am still pre-op and have researched widely on the net as well as interviewing my surgeon. I feel for and send her my sentiments. However I still intend to make my own decision about having the surgery. After meeting with my surgeon and questioning him to death, by the way he was excellent and answered anything I asked, I still plan to have the surgery. I can not see the future and certainly hope all goes OK. My surgeon has done 246 of these operations with no major failures which gives me confidence that the odds are good, not 100 % however. Perhaps we all need to become informed patients, if all does not go well, my beef will be with my surgeon and myself because it is my decision to go through with it. Syd...... Has it changed your life? > http://www.onelist.com > Come visit our new web site and share with us your stories Dear Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to you, I have been away. I totally agree with what you have said and I think we should be careful to point out that there are risks as well as benefits with the band. I am one of those who told you that it would all be okay in the end and I have been feeling very concerned about that. I will never blithly tell someone to " go for it " . I am sure that you were intelligent enough to check out what the risks were beforehand BUT, if you were anything like me you were so determined to get the band you just turned a blind eye to the risks. Yes, of course my surgeon said there was a complication of infection, etc. but I figured, " it won't happen to me " You are the proof that these things can and do happen. I take your point and think we should all be a bit careful in encouraging new members of the list and make sure that we make a point of saying that we are expressing our personal opinion only!! , I hope you are improving steadily but do be patient and kind to yourself. Aside from the physical trauma you have had you have also suffered emotionally and psychologically and these may have something to do withg your tiredness. All the best, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Suzanne
