Guest guest
lol...thanks . I work in the IT department, though. But the situation is very similar. There are days when the phone just isn't ringing, and I don't have much to do. And fortunately I make a bit more than $10.00/hr. In call centers, if there are no calls then the employees are typically twiddling their thumbs. Many will take a book with them to read during down time. Believe it or not, there are quite a few jobs with similar conditions. While this is an obvious up side of working there, the down side is that most of these jobs do not pay as well (generally <$10/hr). On the other hand, there ARE companies where such activities represent an abuse. At one company I worked with a while back ('99?), I set up on an employee who was playing games all day rather than doing his programming work. When the owners had enough data, they confronted the employee and a parting of ways was arranged. Like I said -- it all depends on the company.
