Guest guest
I have been reading the messages with interest over the last week. I have a couple of questions I wondered if people could help me with. I am confused as to why people are travelling all over the world and paying huge amounts of money. Isn't the operation available in your country? I live in Melbourne Australia and am having surgery at the end of July, I have just begun all my pre op testing, which is extensive but I would rather this than no testing. The band will cost me about AUD$2,000 US$1,300 (my private health insurance covers the rest). As far as I know the surgery is also available through our national health scheme but the waiting lists are very long. I think there is someone on the list from Australia (maybe Perth) and they said there were no tests or follow up. This must be unique to Perth because Professor O'Brien here in Melbourne is amazingly thorough. It has taken me a long time to decide on the surgery and I am still pretty scared. it is difficult to adjust to a life without dining out and enjoying good food. I know you will all say the weight loss is worth it but it sure seems scary giving it all up.
