I use Promise margarine and Smart Balance 67% spread for baking and

cooking. For the table, I use Smart Balance Light. I Love Smart

Balance and think it's taste is just right. No margarine is going to

taste exactly like butter, so occasionally I add a little butter (up

to one half) if its that real butter taste I want.

I wrote to the folks at Smart Balance just last month and asked if

they had any plans to put their margarine in stick form. The answer

was no, not at this time. The reason their margarine is in a tub is

because it does not have any trans fat (a.k.a. hydrogenated) that

would make it stay solid enough to form sticks.

Their suggestion for cooking convenience: Turn a new one pound tub

out onto a plate and cut it into quarters -- voila! -- four 1/2 cup

sticks. Wrap each in plastic wrap to keep on hand for baking. IMO,

the minor inconvenience is worth it -- all natural, no trans fat.
