Guest guest
Well, has been sick almost all winter. Actually it seems since he started the flovent for the eosinophils he has been stuffy. yesterday he woke with a sore throat and developed headache, fever, so today I took him to the ped. he gave chewable amoxil. the ped. said to take two now, then one each time after that. I gave two after I checked for med interaction. he chewed and said his mouth burned, I stupidly assumed it from the strep throat and told him to swallow. his throat continued to burn so I looked closer at the tablets, I then noticed that some were different!! I called the pharmacy, she said it was motrin and I asked if it would interact with his other meds. she said no, then I called poison control, they said he should be ok, but to call the ped. the ped. said he should be ok, but watch for vomiting or any strange symptoms. Pharmacy mixed up a batch of liquid amoxicillin to replace the tablets. Boy, you hear about this on tv but never expect it to happen to you. Half the med in that bottle was the wrong one, they didn't even really look that much alike, I have been saying prayers of thanks that it wasn't a dangerous med that he took. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. Guest guest
When I was first diagnosed w/something wrong w/my stomach the pharmacy gave me the wrong medication. I took it for two days until I started having a side effect and looked at the tablets and saw they weren't marked like they should be. It wasn't anything harmful, but I was pretty freaked out. Now I check all my drugs before I leave the store or in the parking lot. Walgreens prints out a little sheet that has a pic of the drug and what should be on both sides so I know exactly what to look for. Hope that never happens again to any of you!!! Guest guest
Cathy, Wow, that is so scary. I have only heard about it on T.V. That just seems it would be so hard to not catch when they are filling the bottle!!! That really scares me. Spencer has gotten an overdose twice (each time at the hospital) and that was scary. I can't imagine a different med. That makes me really mad! I sure hope everything goes okay.
