Theresa This is not true I did some check and the

way USDA rules for nutritional values if it is mark

carbs 0 then it can have anywhere from 0 to .5 carbs

if it is marked >1 carb it has anywhere between .5

and .9 carbs so if the label say >1 carb count it as 1

carb to be safe if marked 0 count it as .5 carbs to

be safe.

On the kool aid.....Add it and taste. I used a whole pack at first and it

was too strong , so add a little until it tastes like you like it. Use an

individual pack of knox. Mine came with about 40 in the box.....JEan

Penny, that is awesome!! Congrats on meeting your goal! Did you do anything

different lately, or did it just happen on its own? You had mentioned

cutting back on the diet coke, so I was wondering if that did it. Just

trying to get all the tips I can... :) I had some diet coke at the

movies yesterday myself. I had cut the caffeine til this week, but I'm

going to experiment and see if it slows me down any. I may have cut it from

my diet for nothing...LOL.

Theresa,

I started the month cutting back on diet coke, but I didn't stick with it,

unfortunately!! Seems that isn't the problem, I am not sure what I did

differently.

I can drink diet 7 up occasionally, I am not really fond of the citrus type

taste. Oh well!! maybe I should buy some and try it again, after all it took

me 2 weeks to get used to the diet coke taste after my whole life of drinking

coke!

Funny, I was stuck for a long time at 190-192 and the day after I had

a diet 7-up, two pounds came off.

I know that now and the doctor I don't think even kept the results. I didn't

realize he planned to scratch test again. I guess he thought he had told

me.... Oh well at least it wasn't painful......... Boy I don't know if I

could stand to go without my Allegra for that long, It has made such a

difference in my life with the airborne allergens for certain and I think the

internal as well.

The results I mentioned were from two years ago when I was not on Allegra or

anything else.

Re: [eosinophilic gastroenteritis] Update

Judy,

our allergist and the Allergy Dept at WRAMC, tells all their patients NOT to

take antihistamines, Allegra, etc. for 10 days before skin testing.

Screws up the results.

Hi there;

Well I got the results of s biospies. He seems to have some kind of

an ulcer and a very bad section of inflamed bowel. They are putting him on

antiinflamatory drugs and flagyl to see if he gets better. Also we

discussed his tendency to obstruct. Well she said that because of the

severe hirschsprung you could also call it pseudo and that his bowel is

just not in sink and to keep him on nifedipine. Well to me non of this is

sounding to optemistic. Well for now we are on full TPN and IV hydration

and pray that things will get better.

Dear Steph,

I have NO idea what you just asked me. I am very new at this, so if you

could describe some of the initials of the tests that you asked me, it would be

helpful. His GI has completed the upper and lower GI's with negative results.

We know that his esophagus is clear. Doc found the Eos. at a high count in

Matt's stomach and small intestine. His eos. are continually high along with

his allergen level.

He has had blood drawn, for reactions to foods. Because of the levels, Matt

has had all dairy, soy, peanut, and wheat taken out of his diet.

We are meeting with Dr. Sampson and Dr. Sicherers on June 12. Although, we

are currently in communication with Dr. Sicherers about Matt's diet.

I believe that you are right about mixing the Elecare with food. I think

that the NY doc is leaning towards putting Matt on an elimination diet. That

will be hard for us, feeding and keeping Matt interested in food is already

quite the challenge.

Dr's Sicherer and Samson put our son on an elimination diet for 6 weeks last

Dec/Jan.

He ate only 8 or so foods. It was extremely difficult and did not result in any

change for the better of for the worse in his esophagus. I think the bottom line

is

that everyone thinks they can determine what the offending foods are( I used to

think that when Dan was first diagnosed) but time and many tests have shown us

that

it is all foods and all proteins.
