Guest guest
Tina, Sorry this is going on. We are having the same problem with Spencer and we don't know what to do either!!! I am about going out of my mind! You might want to see if in addition to the albuterol that the doc's will prescribe Atropine (sp) it is another bronchial dilator. I am thinking about having them add this to Spencer's regimen at this point. It works very well. Also how much albuterol are you giving .25 or .50? He isn't around many other kids either because we home school. It seems that ever since he started the cromolyb he has had stuffy nose and since weaning down to flovent once a day he has had more symptoms of burning in his throat. Just started flonase about 2 weeks ago and it has help alot with the stuffy nose. Cathy
Guest guest
Hi this is Tina Alyssa's mom and I wanted to ask some questions. Alyssa hasn't gotten over the sinus infection yet and she has a ear infection, major problems with her asthma, this is her 2nd week on zithromax she is going to see a specicalist next wk to see what is going on with her lungs, the concern is that her heart may not be pumping enough to clear her lungs? I asked if it could be do to the prednisone and still haven't gotten a answer but the kids that have problems with reoccuring infections what are ewe supposed to do? besides keeping them in a bubble away from everything what do we do? The ped asked if i thought she could be having a reaction to something and it manifesting it self in some other way have you guys ever experienced this? what can I expect? what do i do? any ideas at all will be wonderful!!!!!!! Thanks Tina
Guest guest
Hi Tina, I am sorry Alyssa is having such a bad time. I found this link of symptoms of food allergies.. Very enlightening, seems we can blame just about everything on allergies. Actually I urge caution there, but then we may find that some things that are going on are allergy based. http://www.hon.ch/Library/Theme/Allergy/Glossary/symptom.html From personal experience.....I have always had a lot of Sinus problems. I got a lot of infections and they were very hard to clear up. Now that I am on Allegra they have practically gone away. To me that says that mine are probably Allergy caused. So getting allergy tested for my EG turned out to help my Sinuses too. When my oldest son was little, 1 yr old and up, he had constant ear infections. He would no sooner finish the antibiotics and get an all clear than he would have another one. Our Pediatrician at the time was an allergist, by chance. He thought they might be allergy caused. He did tests and was most allergic to Dust, Mold and 4++to eggs. The eggs we had been avoiding, but how do you avoid dust and mold. We started allergy shots for those and within two months the ear infections were gone never to return. For him they made a world of difference. My youngest son also had ear infections. He was never allergy tested because the Navy doctors didn't think it was necessary. He also had a functional heart murmur and you could hear him breath all through the house. When his Timpanogram finally showed he wasn't hearing they put in tubes and removed his Tonsils and Adenoids. Apparently his Adenoids were so large that they were preventing the ears from draining. Besides clearing his ears, this quieted his breathing and reduced the strain on his heart. Through elimination we knew he was allergic to milk and soy.... But I guess we will never know if allergies contributed to his infections...... It was actually a team of Cardiologists that caught the problem and had him on decongestants for a while, but when that didn't clear him up they resorted to the surgery..... I hope this helps a little. Yes, Ear infections and sinus problems can be allergy related.... I hope Allyssa starts to feel better soon. Your family has been through a lot..... Guest guest
Kelsey and Tina-- I had the same surgery. It wasn't a cure all for me, but it helped tremendously. A homeopath actually finally got rid of my sinus infections after being on antibiotics for two years straight!! I know of a 7 year old who had all of his sinus' enlarged because there was no room for drainage. It does happen. Just a thought. Guest guest
Tina- I was just wondering--isn't Zithromax a 5 day only antibiotic. How can Alyssa be on it for 2 weeks. You take a double dose the first day and then the regular dose for the next 4 days. It stays in your system for 10 days-so your body thinks you have had 10 days of antibiotics. Guest guest
> Tina- > I was just wondering--isn't Zithromax a 5 day only antibiotic. YES zithromax is a 5 day dose, Alyssa is going to be on it 20 days, She is becomming immune to it and this is the only oral anitbotic that she can take, she is going to have a cat scan done tommorrow to see if it is true sinus or allergy related sinus, I am not sure what the out come is going to be because the ENT said if true sinus they are going to do some type of surgry to help, relieve the drainage, she had tubes put in her ears last month for the second time and she is still getting ear infection so I am beginning to think that it has to be allergy related, I asked what can be done if it is allergy she is on flonase, zyrtec, and of course sinulair, the breathing treatments, in halers, and the list goes on, I heard about the new nose spray and asked about changing but the ENT said they all were the same some had a few different ingrentants but worked the same? does anyone else have any ideas? we see the specialist next Friday to see what is going on with her lungs, has anyone had this problem? thanks Tina
Guest guest
BJ has lots of problems with his lungs and breathing but he was also born 2 months premature so not sure if it is due to the prematurity. This is my first time in the group. The Dr. thinks my son has EG. He was hhospitalized at 3 months for severe vomitting, diarrhea, and dehydration. I resumed breastfeeding and he started having loose stools and blood. He was put on Alimentum-Neocate-now back on Alimentum. I'd like any information you have on EG.
