Guest guest
have stricken his 6.5 yr old sister out of nowhere..or at least I should say food allergies treated with antihistamines for strapping intestinal pain and asthma have been the protocol for her with pretty much success up until she became very ill with the flu/bronchitis/asthma in December and never got 100% better. Bottom line: She has developed bad, bad reflux, DX'd with arthritis on her left side from toes up to pelvis (no Lupus, thank goodness) and has seen an excellent GI and had a normal GI Series Small Bowel Series done on Thursday to rule out Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Crohns as well as other structural anamolies. If the Zantac continues to fail the next course of action is an endoscopy to fully rule out ulcer disease and she suggested Eos perhaps in the Esophagus/Gastritris area .. she said that the pathologists are becoming more and more aware of this disease and just last month her GI practice DX'd three children with this. The Rheumatologist is going to do more research on Eos and Arthritis and was very very glad I brought this possibility to her attn for at this pt no abnormal Eos have shown on the bloodwork on the Arthritis side and I asked MUST they show there to be causing the inflammation like they can do in the GI end of things and she said no they don't have to show up unless it is in a latent stage... Interesting to note..... Anyway .. I will be checking on and off here as we keep our fingers crossed that this is plain 'ol reflux .. at least we are aware of all the possibilities and you have helped me be aware of what to ask the Dr's etc. She has become terribly constipated this last week (dr's don't think due to the meds but aren't certain .. it took 4 enemas (a mineral oil one inluded) to get her out of the excrutiating pain she was in and get things moving along. She has been complaining of some rough going in that area since she got ill in Dec. Oh, also wanted to mention that she also has very dry, irritated eyes that aren't inflammed (iritis) at this point but Dr. said that the cells are causing destructive irritation/damage to the eye and now she is on a routine of eye drops round the clock. This came so suddenly. Cheryl & 6.5 yrs old with Spondylo-Arthritis and Fibromyalgia to upper extremity areas, too ... Reflux .. on Naproxen/Tylenol as needed/Zantac/Kondramul Lax/
