Guest guest
Betty, The fact that you have the equipment and can use it free makes a big difference. I did not understand that. Unfortunately, it still does not account for the airtime charges. Any ideas? I know these can be expensive. Also, using your equipment might make possible " public service announcements " that the TV stations are required to air. If we can do short, professional announcements, sponsored by the CJD Foundation (charitable, non-profit designation) stations might air it. What do you think? Guest guest
I think that Vicki's idea about the public service announcement sounds great. Sheryl
Guest guest
Before we start looking at the " PSA " avenue, we need to find out specifically how CJD falls into that category. It will still cost money, writing copy, film crew, talent, post and preproduction, etc. There are a number of considerations unless we know of a production company that would be willing to handle everything for us, including contacting various TV, radio, cable, newspaper, magazine, etc., to help us. My area of expertise is talent. As a professional actress, I would be willing to give my time and I'm sure that I could recruit some people here in Houston to also give of ther time. Guest guest
Vicki: There is another advantage with working in tv. There are ways that are inexpensive. Public Access cost local residents nothing. That is why I said we need group help. Locally each member would need to call the cable company that they are subscribers to. Ask if there is a " time slot " available on PUBLIC ACCESS, In our area there are usually more that one time slot available. Just remember, whoever will be a part of the interviews, etc. must not mention the lack of funds for research. But there can always be an address..a phone number...faz number...or an e-mail. So you can say all yu want to just not on TV. This was my suggestion. We can tape what would be called a " discussion show " .. 4 30 minute segiments. Thiis would give us 4,,,30 minute tapes/shows to rotate. It's hard to get all this on paper, but I hope this gives you the general ides of what I had in mind Let me know if you or anyone else have any suggestions for information to be used. Thanks Betty,
Guest guest
I agree with this suggestion. Betty, where are you located? I'd be interested in working on this project with you. I live in CA but I also spend a lot of time in MA. I used to work in TV and radio. I'm going to start looking into doing a public service announcement on CJD for radio. ---SOUKUPS@... wrote: > > From: SOUKUPS@... > > Betty, > > The fact that you have the equipment and can use it free makes a big > difference. Guest guest
: I have received a lot of pro's and con's. And when I explain what can be done without cost to the group, they can't seem to grasp onto the concept. Perhaps you will understand whtat I have in mind. Public Access is " free " to local residents. As far as I know this is the same in all areas of the country and all cable companies. Time-Warner is ou local cable company and I''m sure they have the saem rules. Even a simple PSA announcement with only 30 second spots are costly. With the ministry we were offered 70 spots (30 seconds) for $400. Now why would anyone want to go that route when we can get a 30 minute show on Public Access for free. The ministry has offered me at no cost the use of the TV equipment and my production manager will do our editing for us. Therefore the cost will be minimal. Actuall the only cost I can see would be a person who wanted to be interviewed. They would have travel expeses. I have come up with an idea that may work. BUT THERE IS NO ASSURANCE this will work. All we could do is try. Here goes........Wouln't be great if we could get members of the group who have a stor to tell or information they would like to share...to...put it on a VHS tape? The cabel companies usually require a 3/4 inch tape. So the show would have to be edited together after the tapes are trnsferred. NOW here goes the problem...we could lose quality during the transferred. For someone who does not undertand they may be upset when they find out that we used " so and so's " tape and didn't use theirs. There are man more " glitches " that can come up in this type of project. Right now so close to the time of my husbands death, I don't ave all the time I would like to devotee to this. But I have oodles of ideas and I will do as much asd possible to help. Thanks for caring, Betty
