Guest guest
Hi again, We got the results of 's ph probe yesterday. This was his third, and the first two were normal. Apparently the total score which incorporates many things (# of episodes, duration, etc.) was slightly above normal. Normal being 22 or less, and was 23.7. But the thing that struck me was that had 137 reflux episodes with normal being 50 or less. The doctor didn't seem that concerned given that his total score was close to normal. He also said that the Prilosec and other anti reflux meds should have taken care of the problem. But I am wondering is 137 episodes alot or do true refluxers have many many more episodes and 137 is actually not that high? Do any of you know what your kids scores were? I also wonder why 's fist two were normal, and now this? Doc says it could be that his esophagus just isn't working properly because of the severity of inflamation. We should be starting on prednisone in about a week. I wish I could think of all these questions when I am at the Doctors office, but I am writing them down so I can ask when he calls in a few days. One other question on the prednisone, I read somewhere that you need to be hospitalized for a day or two when starting High dose prednisone. Is this true? thanks again,
