Guest guest
Don't you get the feeling that the British government said that Churchill contracted nvCJD from one meal to keep Britons from panicking? I mean, seriously folks, how in the world do they expect us to believe that they can narrow it down to one meal. Bull....!!!! Beverly G. Guest guest
All- Not to be morbid, but... I would guess the shorter incubation period for nvCJD is due to the differential between how many hamburgers one eats vs. how many brains one eats to get kuru. The prion acts as a crystal in its multiplication (I think) and thus the more 'seeds' you have for crystals, the more rapidly your 'crystal' would grow. I've been to England. I've eaten the food. There's not much to rave about, and the longest line I stood in was at a Mc's across from Marble Arch. This is gonna get ugly, folks. > Re: Medicines 'greater BSE risk than beef' > > > From: LArmstr853@... > > > > << > I have also read where Kuru victims had an incubation period of > 45 years (I > think or it could have been closer to 50 years), so I think it could be > possible that your mother could have eaten contaminated food as > a child and > it > slowly incubated for many years. >> > I thought Kuru was shorter... weren't women and children dying > because they > were the ones that consumed the brain? Guest guest
-- , I agree....The INFECTIVITY LEVEL, has got to do something with symptoms and incubation periods.... Now, that they have come up with the fact, that ONE MEAL, could have caused the death of Churchill.....that puts a whole new twist on things//// Terry/MADSON Wade wrote: > > > All- > Not to be morbid, but... > I would guess the shorter incubation period for nvCJD is due to the > differential between how many hamburgers one eats vs. how many brains one > eats to get kuru. > > The prion acts as a crystal in its multiplication (I think) and thus the > more 'seeds' you have for crystals, the more rapidly your 'crystal' would > grow. > > I've been to England. Guest guest
Terry- I wish I knew exactly what the facts are. After I pushed send on that last message, I wondered if a small amount of brain would be MORE infective because of the similarity of the tissue types... Another example of the difficulty in forming a decent hypothesis. You can take a known fact and find lots of different ways it could be true... Phooey! p.s.- to all CJDVoice members, sorry if I ever come off as trivializing your experiences. I don't mean to. I hope to always have a different perspective than you, meaning I hope I am always fortunate to NOT lose a loved one to this. As such, I will always be limited in my capacity to sympathize. As much as I hate to admit it, there are some things that Platonic contemplation will not substitute for experience. > Re: incubation times, kuru vs. nvCJD > > > > > -- , I agree....The > INFECTIVITY LEVEL, has got to do something with symptoms and > incubation periods.... > Now, that they have come up with the fact, that ONE MEAL, could > have caused the death of Churchill.....that puts a whole > new twist on things//// Terry/MADSON >
Guest guest
I agree that they DEFINITELY don't want another panic. BUT, remember, I believe they have proven in tests, that " ONE QUARTER TABLESPOON " of infected BSE feed, has been FATAL to cows. This would create one heck of a problem. This bring back the (INFECTIVATY LEVELS, ETC.). The incubation period, would depend on how infective, whatever you ingested was...........Terry/MADSON BevAlso@... wrote: > From: BevAlso@... > > Don't you get the feeling that the British government said that Churchill > contracted nvCJD from one meal to keep Britons from panicking?
