Forwarded to me from another list by Dr. Lynette Dumble,

author of Mad Cows to Humans _ The Next global Plague!!

It would appear that 18 new cases of BSE in France in 1998 may

indicate an exponential rise since the first reported case in 1990,

and according to Lynette this is similar to the increase seen in

Britain in the early 1990s, 6 to 8 years after the first BSE-infected

cow in the UK in 1985. And apparently similar reports are coming out

of Switzerland and Germany. More later!!

BSE is bovine spongiform encephalopathy found in cattle and known

as mad cow diesease , and CJD is Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease the

equivalent found in humans!!

For further background see:

Why BSE and CJD on the mai-not list?? -- another case of economic

globalization's corporate and global market interests prevailing over

and threatening the common good and in particular in this

instance - public health on a global level - - as the article

referred to above clearly reviews and articulates!!!

>From CJD list serve:

A new case of BSE was reported in the département de l'Orne.

The national epidemiosurveillance network of BSE has just reported a new case

of BSE on an animal of the Orne Departement. It is the 49° case to be reported

in France since 1990 and the 18° case of year 1998.

The cow was born in March 93, which means after the ban.

According to the French regulation the 168 cows of this herd was slaughtered

and immediately incinerated.
