Guest guest
-- Telegraph/U.K.-- 2/19/99 MINISTERS are to launch research on primates and genetically engineered rats to study drugs showing promise in preventing human BSE, of which there have been 38 cases. A study by the neuropathogenesis unit in Edinburgh, published by the Lancet, showed that mice infected with scrapie, the BSE equivalent in sheep, can be protected from spongiform disease by a SINGLE DOSE OF PENTOSAN POLYSULPHATE soon after exposure to infection. The Medical Research Council and Department of Health will form a group considering treatments for human BSE - variant CJD - after comments by the Spongiform Encephalopathy Advisory Committee/////// [This is wonderful news, BUT, something just gets my goat here. What the hell is wrong with these people. Either they KNOW CJD is the same as nvCJD, or they just don't give a DAMN about people dying from CJD. You have 38 people dead of nvCJD, so they are going to research this medicine, (WONDERFUL). But, what about the 1,000's and 1,000's of people dying AND dead from CJD. Hell, I forgot, they don't count..........If this medicine works on nvCJD, will this medicine work on CJD, and if so, what does this mean???] Terry/MADSON
