Guest guest
>>The name of the new treatment is called NAET. It's an allergy elimination treatment worth looking into. There is also more on the web about this if you want to search for it. << I've been taking my nine year old for NAET treatments on a weekly basis since February. He has severe food allergies and asthma. His esophageal biopsies in the past have had some eos in it but he has not been diagnosed with EE. He has had a Nissen for reflux already. NAET combines traditional techniques of Chinese medicine (acupressure using acupuncture points), chiropractic and kinesiology. It is a non-invasive technique (no needles, no drugs). It looks and seems like hocus pokus even to me but during the four months Matt has been undergoing these treatments his asthma and environmental allergies have come under excellent control. Usually this child has asthma flares requiring bursts of steroids and steroid inhalers, and lots of asthma neb treatments for a couple of months during the spring allergy season. This year he has needed none of that. Can't say whether there is a cause-and-effect to it all but since he is doing well on it I am continuing the weekly treatments. After we make it through ragweed season we will be starting on the food allergy treatments. NAET is not a quick fix, it is something which requires a commitment for at least 6-9 months. There is a chiropractor named Ellen Cutler who has modified NAET for kids and she has written a book called " Winning the War against Asthma and Allergies. " She has a web site out there somewhere. I can tell you though, that the acupuncturist's office I take my son to is filled every time I go with parents of little kids trying to address allergies. There are no double-blind, placebo controlled studies that have been done to show the benefits of NAET at this point--as is the case with most alternative medicine techniques. There are not a whole lot of practitioners out there that do NAET. Most practitioners who do NAET are either chiropractors or acupuncture docs. History of anaphylaxis, history of Nissen for reflux, history of congenital diaphragmatic hernia)
