Guest guest
What do we need to do to get an Infomercial posted, what do they want - a story, lead in ad, or maybe a data sheet? Guest guest
Mel, " Infomercials " are paid advertising of approximately 1/2 hour in length. Remember the " spray-on hair " ? That was a classic infomercial. I don't think we need to pay to get publicity at this point. Such things as Letters to the Editor and what we have been doing so far will continue to increase visibility at not cost to everyone. Maybe someone will write their family's story and submit it to Reader's Digest or Good Housekeeping or any one of a number of magazines that accept contributions. Please let's not go down the " infomercial " path. We would need a professional director, set, writers and lots of $$$$. Then you pay for each airing and more for select time periods--that's why most of them are Sunday morning or late at night which is also when people are most vulnerable with their credit cards (how about those Ginsu Knives for only $19.95 plus shipping and handling ($6.95). They are very profitable for RONCO Appliances such as the potato peeler, dehydrator (to make " turkey jerky or beef jerky " ) or the Vegematic (remember the Vegematic--it dices, slices and makes French Fries and was the classic infomercial). Additionally, infomercials have little credibility because they are paid advertising. Having a news organization or magazine with a piece on CJD is much more powerful. Hope everyone understands that I appreciate this unique suggestion, but feel that it is not appropriate for us. Keep on thinking out the of box as we progress--and we are progressing!
