Though does not vomit the way he used to (it only happens from time to time now compared to 10-12 x's a day) He does complain of chest pain. It is hard for me to distinguish if it is due to EE or his asthma. One question I have for everyone on the list is the growth issue. is gaining weight but he has not grown at all in over 8 months. Has anyone else experience this wtih your kids? : I hope Kody is doing better. I don't know how you do it! I haven't really found docs to be very interested in the height issue as long as the weight is not trailing off (even though it is a concern to me.) Do you think 's is from steroids or the EE or both? Somebody told me one time (another Mom with five kids with reflux) that she was told that reflux kids are short but smart. I don't know if that is provable but it seems to be the case with Matt. I wonder if being a chatterbox has any link because he can really talk up a storm, too! I spoke to Dr. Schwarz(allergist) about the steroids. He said that the steroids may slightly slow growth but it won't stop the growth. He also mentioned that he has a few paients with EE and this question has come up before with them. He suggested I discuss it further with Dr. Liacouras (GI). Schwarz gets more of my urgent calls due to the asthma and allergy issues and I have found him to be prompt, responsive and on-the-money with treatment recommendations. We are scheduled to do PFTs on Monday. Like you, Liacouras recommended a scope for later this year. It has been two years since the last scope and it is time to take a look and see how things are. I agree with him and we plan to do it in the summer when school is out for the year. Matt is totally asymptomatic at this point but I think we still need to check for those tissue changes that have cropped up in the past. If there is any evidence of EE then I will probably go back to see Dr. and compare recommendatons. Lynda

Guest guest
Jen, My kids are not growing well -- EXCEPT kody, now on TPN, growing like a weed. My asthmatic/EE kid we finally figured out.... the chest pain was from the EE, the 'tightness " was caused from esophageal irritation setting off his lungs. solve the esophageal issues and his asthma clered right up. iT took 13 years to figure this out. I'd get biopsied pronto SJHarlow@... http://www.c4isr.com/harlow
