Shar, you are correct, they do not allow it today. The Red Cross policy says

blood relatives of CJD victims cannot donate. We have tested the system in WY,

UT, and CA. All

rejected neices and daughters. However - this policy is to change soon, when

they get their computers coordinated. It is supposed to go to " one victim -- ok

can donate, two

victims in family -- can't donate. " About two weeks ago, a doctor with the Red

Cross in SLC said this was going to happen, just don't know when. I will try to

call and verify

the opinion. This was also the opinion of the Sacramento blood collection

agency when they were trying to get our neice to donate earlier this year. Mel

I work in a school system and we had a blood drive the other day...they

wouldn't allow me to give blood either. I live in Maine.
