Guest guest
Shar- We had the same experience with Bonfils too. My cousin was called to donate because she has a rare blood type (I can't remember which). She always fills out the questionnaire and the question " Has a blood relative been diagnosed and/or died from CJD? " She answered yes and then went back to talk to them. She explained to them about and the fact that it had be 98% determined that she received it from dura mater and that it was not genetic. They told her that though that was probably correct - they still would not let her donate any longer. They said that they were unwilling to take the chance... Guest guest
Mel - Got news for you. Colorado does not allow donations from CJD blood relatives. My daughter went to a blood drive here in town which was run by Belle Bonfils in Denver. She said the preliminary questionnaire had the question and when the nurse looked it over, she said definitely not. She also said that this was the first time she had turned anyone down on that reason. Someone from Bonfils is supposed to call my daughter, but that was last week and she still hasn't heard anything.
