Guest guest
Liz, in reference to Schonberger telling people to send biopsies to Dr. Gambetti at Case Western instead of to Dr. Gibbs -- Is it believed that Dr. Gambetti may be covering for the CDC or just what is implied by your letter. I have an interest since my husband's biopsy was sent to Dr. Gambetti. I would like to think the information I was given was believable. What is your opinion in this matter. Thanks. Guest guest
This message has me thinking. I had UTMB send my Moms Brain Tissue's to Dr. Gambetti at Case Western also. I never got a anything back. So I started bugging UTMB. They in return sent me to Gambetti, in return, finally sent me the results, " MINUS " , THE EVIDENCE (if any) OF THE AMYLOID PLAQUES. They had, (someone) had scribbled on the document, no evidence of plaques??????? What they did say was -- FINAL DIAGNOSES, BRAIN, 1. Clinical history of rapidly progressive dementia, clinically consistent with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. A. Spongiform encephalopathy, most severe in occipital lobes, consistent with Heidenhain Variant of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. B. Ventricular enlargement, moderate, consistent with atrophy. 1. Communicating spherical enlargement of occipital horn of left lateral ventricle (possible incidental congenital anomaly). DURA: left subdural hemorrhage, recent, minimal. Pituitary: Severe Capillary congestion. COMMENTS: Amyloid stains are not completed for this case as of this date (3-30-98). The results, which ARE NOT ESSENTIAL for diagnosis, will be reported separately in an addendum............. STILL WAITING FOR THAT ADDENDUM, AND IT'S 3-11-99....... Who knows????????? your gonna die, the same hideous death, with or without the plaques.........THE EXACT SAME WAY.......... This is something else that bothers me. Why would the whole medical world be so worried about a disease (nvCJD), that has only killed 39 people, when you have 1,000 and 1,000 dying from (what " THEY CLAIM " might be, a different disease), but dying the same hideous way, why is it all the worry is over nvCJD and not CJD??? It's like, OH, YOU HAVE CJD, JUST GO HOME AND DYE, IT'S JUST SPORADIC, WE ARE MORE WORRIED ABOUT nvCJD, THAT'S WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.............. MAYBE THEY ARE LOOKING FOR THE WRONG THING...... I think they are concentrating on the wrong things. I think they should start looking at CJD PERIOD..................AS A WHOLE/// ANY CONCLUSSIONS ON THAT??????? Guest guest
I also have a concern, as my Dad's samples were sent to Dr. Gambetti from University of Colorado Med Center. Shar
Guest guest
Carolyn: I'm sure the information you were given was accurate. It is all a political thing with Shoenberger; he and Gibbs don't work well together..... actually Shoenberger has seen to it that they won't work together. I hope this helps.
