Guest guest
Jean, All these symptoms are normal, People seem to yoyo and get hot flashes, they all seem to stop when you get into the diet a little more. I don;t know why you have them now and not before. Guest guest
I am in ketosis now but not losing very fast as I anticipated. I know we are better off losing slow. It seems like I have been at 169/172 forever. This morning looks like I made it to 168 but I have been yo-yoing for sometime between 169 to 172 so we'll see. I have been having hot flashes really bad. I went thru menopause 3 years ago. I had the flashes but they had stopped. Now they are worse than ever since going on these woes. I also am depressed and anxious. I had lost 30 pounds or so before doing atkins and just slowly went into it. I didn't just jump into ketosis. Everyone talks about feeling good. I did get a flu shot last WEd. I began vitamins 2 days ago. I hope that makes the difference. Also I feel like I'm smothering some. I read that could be potassium so I have also added it. Well, I guess that's my update. My e-mail has been offline for 2 days.....Jean 201/168/130...
Guest guest
I think, and this might just be the skeptical side of me, that they say that to draw people away from Atkins, to CAD, with fear. Does that sound to skeptical??? Thats just the way I think I guess, there is a lot of money in these diets! do y'all think I am way off base? Guest guest
I agree but like someone else said every low carb protien diet has to be different to get publiched, and everyone wants ppl to use there diet not someone elses. --- Shadcat708@... wrote: > I think, and this might just be the skeptical side > of me, that they say that > to draw people away from Atkins, to CAD, with fear. > Does that sound to > skeptical??? Guest guest
Penny -- I would really hate to think that pulling people away from Atkins was their motivation, but you might be right. I think one of the real problems is that in 30 years Atkins has not done any research; all of his results are anecdotal. That makes medical folks crazy. What gives me comfort is that endocrinologists are putting their diabetes patients on this diet or one of the variations. Doesn't the body have systems for removing poisons? Isn't that why we're all drinking 9 gallons of water a day, and spending a quater of our lives peeing? Ah well..... Guest guest
Penny, I hadn't thought of this, but what you say makes a great deal of sense! I saw the Oprah program about CAD, and thought to myself that yet another person is jumping on the low carb sensation that seems to be so popular these days. As you say, there's a lot of money to be made in the weight loss industry! It amazes me how many infomercials there are on this topic. P. Guest guest
Jean, Did you measure yourself?? Maybe you are losing inches, it is possible to lose inches and not lose on the scale, I didn;t measure and I wish I had, Any one just starting you should measure your self as another way to check if your losing, Also if your in ketosis, your losing fat, it just takes a while for it to register!! Guest guest
Jean no it isnt your body tones itself when you lose weight so your losing somewhere inches toneing as long as your in ketosis. --- Camilla Jean jaimee@...> wrote: > Hi everyone, I am still in ketosis from trace to > moderate but the scales > don't drop. Guest guest
Hi Kathy - No, it's not Aspartame that's stalling me - I haven't been using any artificial sweeteners since I was afraid it would stall me. It may have been cheese, as I've heard some people say that stalls them, so I'm trying to stay off of that. Of course I have lost 8 pounds even though I'm usually not in ketosis but I'm not losing much right now - I'm not sure if I should just be patient and wait or if I should try to go on the " meat diet " that I've heard people talk about, for a few days. Probably I just need to be more patient and see how it goes - since you say you lost 3 pounds last week after a couple of weeks of only 1 pound - maybe I just need to give it some time. I'm not going to worry about ketosis if I'm losing weight. Guest guest
Hi I do it, mainly cause it's nice to know that even when you're not showing a loss, you're still on course. I'm also still a little wishy washy on carb counts (I've got a book coming) so I want to make sure I'm not going over board Sue
Guest guest
You know you don't have to be in ketosis to lose weight, it is just a guide line I think.
