Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to this list and really excited to have found it. We have been dealing with multiple food allergies almost from birth with my 3 year old, just now coming to this diagnosis since he didn't outgrow food allergies or reflux, severe esophagitis didn't respond to prilosec and RAST test was positive to everything, also has IGg level of over 1100. The docs are recommending a g-tube with elemental diet, gradually adding back some foods as tolerated once symptoms are resolved, probably along with gastrocrom. They tell me that there is no way a preschooler will accept the taste of Neocate or Tolerex since he hasn't had it before and it would be his only source of nutrition for a while. Has anyone out there been through this with a similar aged child? Thanks Vicki
Guest guest
yep, vicki, I have 5 kids with eosinophilic esophagitis. We have gone through many therapies (I have it too) and now have tubes and remain on elemental diets. Depending on which form of the disease your child has, however, there are a couple of other options. One of the things we tried was Flonase therapy; there is another girl on the list with a son who tried it at the same time and IT WORKED for them. There is evidence in the literature about this too. This is ONLY effective however with eosinophilic esophagitis and NOT with eosinophilic gastritis or colits. Guest guest
We had success with BJ drinking Neocate from the juice boxes at 2-1/2 and he had never had it before. Dawn-KS(who will never catch up with her mail), mommy to Dakota, 7 and aka BJ, 3 (eosinophilic gastroenteritis, Nissen, and dealing with the after effects of many years of steroid use, sigh!)) Guest guest
I can't rememberr who posted that they have it, but I'd like to get a copy of the Flonase study too please. It seems worth a try before going straight to a g-tube. Thanks, Vicki
