Guest guest
Hi! I have just registered with this group and am looking forward to getting your insight on my son 's condition. will be a year old on the 29th and is unable to eat anything except potatoes, rice, bananas, apples and Neocate formula. Ever since he was born he has had a problem having bowel movements and digesting food. Breastmilk, milkbased formula, soy formula and alimentum did not work. When he was four months old and drinking Alimentum he ended up in the hospital with dehydration from profuse vomiting and diaherra The doctors said it was a virus, but every time we would give him even a 1/2 oz of the formula he would scream and vomit. Finally a GI doctor said he was allergic to the alimentum and prescribed Neocate (which our insurance will not cover, but that is another issue). The Neocate has allowed him to grow and develop normally however, anytime we try a new food the fussiness, vomiting, etc. starts again. On top of the food issue, he is on Raglan for reflux and has severe asthma. Maybe these are all the same issues, no one seems to be able to tell me. After he developed pneumonia in January, an allergist did allergy (scratch) testing, a celiac disease test, and a cystic fibrosis test. All of these tests came back negative. Our GI has never mentioned the possibility of eosinophil gastroenteritis to us but is going to perform an endoscopy and colonoscopy on Tuesday at my urging. is a very happy and loving child. It tears me apart to see him in pain when a food does not agree with him, but it also tears me apart when he wants to eat the same things as his three year old sister, and I have to give him another piece of banana. Any advice, wisdom or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated Thank you, Tracey
