I saw a program on TLC Medical Detectives about CJD. Instead of dealing with

the informative, real issues concerning the disease I think they tended to

really try to sensationlize it. They kept showing tribes in Africa eating

brains, and of course filming all the details. I think such at tatics took the

viewers mind off the fact that this is a disease that many ordinary people get,

through no fault of their own, and need help from the medical community with.

They went into all these off-the-wall theories about people eating brains, etc.

In the end, if you listen close, through all of the above mentioned antics, all

the reasons for getting cjd are theories- and I stress theories. Therefore, I

don't know how much good TLC did with their program. They could have done some

good, I don't think they did. I think they further confused the public and

really did harm to the families by their tatics. Carolyn Wooten
