Guest guest
Suzanne, I like the idea of the silver ribbon and will incorporate it into the quilt somewhere. Maybe along the sides or in the middle. I can do that with silver fabric. I want it to be just a CJD Quilt not a CJDVoice quilt so I don't want the logo on it even though it is very nice. I plan to make quilts till I can't anymore (since I am only 39 that should be a few years hopefully, but one never knows do they?) or till they find a treatment or cure. Photos for the second quilt would be great because we would want to do something totally different than from the first I think just having a very large amount of hearts with names and dates of death will have an impact and if it gets displayed around then we can send our cards with ribbons attached to them to give out to the public, a good way to get the word out. Thanks so much for your imput. Robin Robin
Guest guest
Hi Robin, Here's my mom's name: GLADYS E. DUARTE JULY 8, 1920 - DECEMBER 10, 1998 You said save the idea of the pictures on the quilt for the next one? How many quilts are we making? What if we started it as the first one and let it grow? I really LOVE the picture idea, it give a face to the name. It sure would look beautiful on display. Here's another idea....what if the center square had the CJD Ribbon with an appliqued angel and Logo? Offray might make the ribbon we're using in a wider version. Just a thought...I'm new at this... Guest guest
Robin, I just got off the phone with my aunt. She is THRILLED to be able to do her sister's square. She will do anything and as much as you need help with. She asked me if she embroides the name and sews the roses onto the hearts....do you want her to make the square also....and.....do you want the squares sewed together and returned to you in quilt form? She also wanted to know if the material will be different for each square or the same? I'm passing this on to you...since I'm not a quilter...but am anxious to learn. Please send me 40 or more names...and whatever else we need... When we get this done, and you get the names from England....feel free to send more.... (My aunt makes braided rugs, embroides, quilts....etc...) She said: " this is going to be a beautiful quilt. " Thanks, Suzanne Re: Quilt >From: XOXOBB@... > >Suzanne, > >I will send out a packet this week for the two of you. Guest guest
Robin: I know how busy you are. If you have a chance would you please e-mail my daughter, Ann and discribe how the squares are to be made. She would be so pleased to be able to make her Dad's...but she said she did not know that much about embrodery. She is not on the CJD Voice list. I send her my information. She wanted to know if she would have to make the lettering herself or would it be printed for her. This what scares her. Her e-mail address is gam@.... (Ann) Thank you so much. Also I would like the e-mail address for the young students in Jerusalem. I would like to take on a project to forward e-mail CJD information to them as we receive it. It would be wonderful if they coul d come to the conference and I do understand even if we could afford it we could not do that for everyone. So I thought maybe this would be the next best thing. What do you think? Thanks again for you faithfulness. Betty
Guest guest
Suzanne, Wow, 40 hearts, thats really great. The name gets embroidered on with the Date of death also, then it can be embellished with embroidery any other way, like with flowers or butterflys or leaves or XXXXX's. There is a book out called An Encyclopedia of Crazy Quilt Stitches and Motifs. It has easy to follow instructions for all kinds of embroidery stitches. I will send a few copies with ideas. Thank your Aunt for me. Robin
Guest guest
Robin, Thanks for the drawing of the quilt. I copied it to show my aunt. Yes, I saw the ribbon. Maybe in the center we could put a nice appliqued angel and 12 birthstones around the ribbon....since we are wearing birthstone angels with the ribbon. (Just a suggestion.) When you mail me whatever you're sending....to give my aunt.... please give me the name and number of the thread, etc....in case we run out. Or do I ask you and you send more? We will need to be using the same materials. Sure, I'll help contribute $$ towards the quilt. Thanks.....glad to help. Suzanne
