Hello everyone

I am new to this list. My nineteen month old son was recently diagnosed

with eosinophilic gastroenteritis. He has had asthma and until we received

this diagnosis we have been treating him for that as well as for reflux.

All of the propulsid, zantac, prilosec etc really was not doing any good.

Our doctors have been very good, but I would still like to learn more about

this disease/condition. Can anyone direct me to any websites with some

info on this. I don't think our case is quite as serious as some you. I

read the posts and my heart goes out to you. We are about two to three

weeks into a two month prednisone treatment and so far it seems to be

working well. He has stopped spitting up and is eating better. We are not

on any dietary restrictions yet. Thanks for any help. Good luck to all of

you.

Phyllis,

Glad to see you are back.

Regarding the asthma. is asthmatic. When he was strictly on Neocate

with the ng tube he did not have any flare ups. As he started eating food

again he started to get the asthma symptoms. It eventually went the way of

hospital runs, prednisone and neb treatments. It was pretty out of hand for

awhile.

The allergist started on Aerobid with a spacer and Albuteral as

needed. HIs asthma is under much better control now.

Also, keep in mind that we are in the worst part of the year for asthma.

's doses of meds go up in September and we don't lower them until

April.
