I do not want to beat a dead horse here, but we need to remember that this is

a big group and this is a big world. We all have our strengths and our

talents. EVERYTHING we do is for the loved ones we have lost. EVERYTHING

counts -- education and public awareness among others. I don't sew and I am

not crafty, but I admire those who are. I like to read, learn and discuss

what I have learned (and argue when I think there is an injustice lurking!).

My point is, we all have our own ideas of how we want to help with CJD and

every single one of us has a place in this group. We are a family and family

members don't always agree with each other. We need to stay focused and

remember that we must speak for those who can no longer speak for themselves.

Re: " Mad Cow USA " and CJD Quilt

Suzanne, didn't know this side of me, was not entitled to an opinion. That's

all it was. Just could not figure out why people were not taking advantage of

this wonderful opportunity, to spread the word. But, I guess people just don't

have that kind of money, or time, to bother with it, or they just didn't want

to, and that's o.k........... The time and effort people put in on the ribbon

and quilt was great, and it is for a good cause, {I never said it wasn't, and I

would be glad to donate money for the Quilt. I don't sew, though}. I just wish

people would put in a LITTLE cash, time and effort, to bring this book to the

public, I think this would also be VERY benificial, for future Families, who are

in the libraries looking for info., with nothing there , trying to figure out

what is wrong with their Loved One, and why it happened.............by the way,

I am having a lovely day.....................MADSON

Terry, Like you, I also lost my dear mother to CJD. I have been a

BIG supporter with the endless effort you (and others) do to help educate

everyone to CJD. I worked hard to start the CJD Ribbon. I have made many

ribbons and gave them away. (Do you wear one?) Now, I am helping Robin with

the quilt.....(and I DO NOT quilt, but am willing to learn to help US spread the

word.) Just look at what happened with the AIDS Memorial Quilt. It is a

beautiful piece of art that is displayed all over the world. It has helped

bring about awarness to the disease and left many who viewed it in tears. Our

CJD Memorial Quilt will also make a wonderful statement and help educate the

public. I also have read and own a copy " Mad Cow U.S.A " and can't say enough

about it, or the other books I have read and own: ie: " Deadly Feasts " , " Mad

Cowboy " .... and like you I plan on purchasing some for my local libray too.

Remember we all are here to work together to help bring about public awarness to

this horrendous disease. I have not seen this side of you....I hope it is

because you are having a bad day.Chill.......Suzanne

Bev:

Thank you for addressing the group so eloquently on the diversity of

opinions in respect to our CJD Voice group efforts.

And yes, we are a family... we have had an unforgettable experience

with a devastatingly fatal disease. And, no one can truly understand that

experience unless they have been there also. We have a common goal...

getting the word out about CJD... whether it is through reading books and

then donating them in memory of our loved one; thru the media with interviews

and news articles; creative craftsmanship in a lovely quilt or memorial

ribbon; addressing a group about CJD; or through whatever means we can find.

The bottom line is... getting the word out and getting people educated and

aware of CJD.

All ideas are welcomed in our group and every single one of you has

made an important contribution in helping CJD Voice be successful and be

heard. We are one body.... committed, dedicated and united.

And yes, we are the ones left behind... the " survivors " of the

experience who are trying to put our lives back together and heal. We speak

for our loved ones who we have lost or who we are losing to CJD... who can

no longer speak for themselves.
