Guest guest
Gloria, The wrtier in Colorado said she was interested in people from all over contacting her so it appears to me it is fine you contacted her. I also have been in communication with her also through e-mail. I don't blame you for being frustrated with the LA Times. Have you tried magazines such as the Ladies Home Journal. I tried last summer and didn't get anywhere but the more people write the better. The address is lhj@... (Ladies Home Journal). I had originally written because they had published the following in LHJ which people misinterpreted as saying there are no cases of CJD in the US. " The reference to Creutzfeldt-Jakob is found in our July 1998 issue in an article entitled " Germ Alert. " There is only a brief reference to this disease in the article. In a section asking " How many new diseases are there? " the answer is as follows: A few diseases are truly new to humans. AIDS is the most visible. Scientists suspect that one form of Creutzfeldt-Jakob, an incurable brain disease, is also new. More than twenty cases have been diagnosed so far, all in Europe, that somehow may be related to mad cow cisease. We're getting more evidence of the connection, but it hasn't been definitely proven. Then the answer continues with two other paragraphs, but not further mention of Creutzfeldt-Jakob. I hope this information is of help. " As you can tell LHJ didn't say that but apparently it was confusing enough for people to misintrept it. I tried to use the people misinterpreting as a way to get them to do an artilcle and have not succeeded yet. However, I will try again now since perservance sometimes pays off. I encourage everyone to write. The more people write the better. Debbie I << From: GlowUSA@... After reviewing a video tape of my husband and Dr. Cummings, I did contact the writer in Denver. I hope I did not overstep any of you. I mainly told her how it was for Saul and I, some of the hallucinations he had, and how I thought I was all alone and in a forign land with all of daily, hour and minutes of his dementia. I told her what and how he contacted cjd, how frightening it was. I found her easy to speak with and asked her to send me a copy of what she writes. I am frustrated with the L.A. times and their egos here. No writer here wants to bother! Gloria >>
