I joined this list last week and am truly learning alot. Either you break it down alot better than the book, or it is from trial and error. Whatever the reason, I truly appreciate all the information you are sharing. >> Hello and welcome to the list !!!!!! You will find we are a wonderfully supportive group. As far as the Atkin's diet is concerned, there is a 14 day induction period where you are eliminating carbs and carb-cravings. During the 14 days, you are allowed to eat til satisfied on most meat, eggs and cheese keeping your carb intake to 20 grams or less. You are supposed to eliminate all sugar and caffiene (I believe) though it is a YMMV (your miles may vary) thing. And most important you are supposed to drink 64oz of water plus 8oz for every 25 pounds you want to lose every day. We weigh every Monday and you are welcome to join in. You may also find it beneficial to measure as you may find that when you are not losing pounds, you are still losing inches. During that 2 week induction, it is not uncommon to lose 10 pounds or more. But, again, this is a YMMV. Penny has a wonderful site with a lot of good information in it. The link is listed below my signature line. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Someone will try and find the answer for you. If you go to www.onelist.com and sign in for this list. In the file section there is a low carb cookbook with over 500 recipes in it. Also, go to the link section and you will find many links with great information and more recipes. I personally don't use protein powder in my cooking. I only use it for my shakes. I am sure someone will give you the information you are looking for.
