GT is gatrostomy tube. A tube is inserted throught he skin into the stomach

and is used for feedings. Liquid supplements are used via these tubes for

feedings.

Nissen is a Nissen fundoplication which is the usual surgery for

gastroesophageal reflux. The top part of the stomach is wrapped around the

lower esophagus to help keep food from refluxing into the lower esophagus and

causing inflammation.

G/JT is a gastrojejunostomy tube. Similar use as the G tube but the tube is

advanced through the stomach and into the second part of the small intestine,

the jejunum. This is used for feedings also. It helps keep the food from

refluxing from the stomach into the lower esophagus because the food is

delivered directly into the small intestine.

TPN is total parenteral nutrition. This is Intravenous (IV) infusion of

proteins, fats and carbohydrates used when the GI tract is unable to be used

for feedings.
