Guest guest
I have the brother-in-law with CJD that is 27yrs. I have some questions. I'm aware there may not be answers. Do the drs. tell the CJD patient they are going to die and what disease they have? Do they understand they are going to die? Does anyone ever know why a person got CJD (re genetic, sporadic, etc.)? Are there tests they can perform to find out how they got the disease? Has there ever been someone that has gotten over this disease? Can they tell if the disease has gone to other family members that show no signs of the disease? (would they have to do the protein test and brain biopsy) I'm sure these questions have been answered somewhere! Thanks for your help! Guest guest
, the dr.'s that I've dealt with don't know anything about CJD. A dr. gave my mom a spinal tap & that's how we found out. She had GSS (similar to CJD) I asked him for some information on this disease & he said he didn't have any. He didn't know where I could get any info. We had an autopsy done & should know the results at the end of April. We (the children) have a 50% chance of getting this disease. From the books that I've read, the life span of this disease ranges from 2-5 yrs. I could be wrong (because I've been reading up on CJD & GSS & I might have mixed up the two.) If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. You could reply back or e-mail me at: Kristi118@... Take Care, e
