Guest guest
Hey Dawn, Glad to see Mackenzie Marie hasn't popped out to see the world yet. We are reaching the 2 year anniversary of AJ being on Neocate. I haven't found her teeth being destroyed, but they are yellowy orange color and hold plaque very well. Eating and chewing helps remove the plaque which doesn't happen with her. She has been getting her teeth cleaned every 3 months probably since being on Neocate. She had a fall, where her tooth went thru her lip and the tooth was loose. That is what got us to the dentist so early. But once he heard her history, she goes back 4 times a year. She walks around with two fingers in her mouth, so braces are a definite. That is only minor to us. He doesn't want us to make her stop sucking her fingers, because that is her main source of oral stimulation . AJ is on, hopefully a short course, of predisone. We are trying to get the asthma under control. It has been about 2 weeks, with a few more days to go. She looks FAT. I am not complaining, but it is a big difference in a short amount of time. She gained 2 pounds. She wants to eat, but when she eats, she is in pain. I think it is the quantity. We haven't allowed any new foods. But either her system can't handle that much food at once or even thru out the day. So she is miserable from the steriods and in pain from eating. I hope the asthma improves or it will be a LONG winter. Phyllis--mom to AJ (12/22/95) EG, GERD, Asthma, Allergies, moderate sensorineurol hearing impairment with speech delay.
