We didn't notice until we developed the last set of pictures that were taken

of my dad before his death (when he was still able to walk) and his face and

especially the area around his eyes were extremely puffy. His feed and hands

definitely were not ever swollen, in fact, his extremities were bony-looking.

If the person you are asking about is in the hospital, the swelling might be

from excess fluids (maybe the IV?).

Dear a,

In answer to your question about swelling, my mother's left hand (she was

left-handed if that's pertinent) started to swell on 11/21/98. By 12/3 the

swelling had gone down, but by 12/5, both hands were swollen. By 12/8, both

hands and feet were swollen, and by 12/11/98, she was dead. Even in her

coffin, both her hands were so swollen that her wedding band had to go on her

pinky finger. I hope this is not too much information for you.

Hi Evey,

It's never a good idea to stop ATDs abruptly, especially for this long. Most

people can be maintained on 2.5-10.0 mg Tap daily, and your endo will likely

put you back on a low dose. You want your FT4 and FT3 within range, whereas

TSH may stay suppressed for some time and can be misleading. Take care, Elaine
