Guest guest
Are the physicians and other personnel who are involved in the harvesting and use of dura mater at risk because of it? It seems I remember at least the harvesters were. If this is the case then there can be a further angle to getting the dangers publicized: occupational health and liability. Guest guest
Spot on Debbie!!! There is a report of one dead of CJD at 40 after harvesting dura mater for Braun, German manufacturers of Lyodura, some 10 years earlier. I'm pretty certain the following is the reference! Weber, , Tumani, Hayrettin, Holdorff, Bernd, Collinge, , Palmer, Mark, Kretzschmar, Hans A. and Felgenhauer, Klaus. Transmission of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease by handling dura mater. The Lancet 1993; 341: 123-124.
