Guest guest
Hi all, Just wanted to update you on Chris' status after a month on the Singulair and Zyrtec mixture, and the concurrent slow/cautious Prednisone taper. So far, the Singulair and Zyrtec are working very well and we are very hopeful that this mix will work for him, at least to decrease the Prednisone if not to get completely off of it. I know Singulair has not been successful for everyone who has tried it, but it sure has been a worthwhile trial for so far. He has been able to get from 5mg Pred. daily, to alternating 3mg. and 5mg. Pred. with no difference in his reactivity to his current diet. He tells me this would not be the case if he was not taking the Singulair/Zyrtec mix. There also has been a bonus we didn't expect. Before starting the Singulair, he weighed 105 lbs. Now, a month later, he weighs 115 lbs. He's 5'6 " , so this weight gain is a good thing And an extra bonus is that the Singulair prevented him from getting a major asthma attack when we visited his sister's place last weekend and she'd been cooking pasta and baking (lots of wheat flour in the air) just before we got there. He got only a minor attack after being in her apartment for a couple hours, and then it went away shortly after we came home. Normally, he'd have been hit with an attack within minutes of walking into her apartment, and would have had to leave or risk a hospitalization for the severity of the attack he could have had. And the attack even at that few minutes of exposure would have lasted for several days afterwords. So this is a significant victory for him - he hasn't been able to handle being around wheat flour this easily in a long time. We're keeping our fingers crossed here that he will be able to continue decreasing the Pred. without any increase in his EG symptoms. Take care, -Joy (husband has EE/EG, allergies, asthma) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
