Guest guest
http://cancermed.com/fdamore.htm Antineoplastons How the FDA Stops Medical Progress Why did the FDA go after Dr. Burzynski in the first place? A hint may be found in a January 18, 1982 interview with FDA Bureau of Drugs Director Dr. J. Crout: " I never have and never will approve a new drug to an individual, but only to a large pharmaceutical firm with unlimited finances, " declared Dr. Crout. Just one year later -- in 1983 -- the FDA began its private war against Dr. Burzynski, an individual with quite limited finances. This may explain why there has been so little progress in the so-called " War against Cancer. " In every field, the breakthroughs are made by small, independent innovators unconnected with big institutions. The personal computer came not from IBM, but from two teenagers -- Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak -- working in a garage. As Dr. Crout’s quote demonstrates, the current FDA system assures there will be no Jobs or Wozniak in medicine. FDA will only approve drugs to the same companies and institutions who are most deeply invested in the status quo. True medical revolution -- as opposed to evolution -- is stifled. The FDA culture that has generated 12 years of retaliation against Dr. Burzynski is described by former FDA Chief Counsel Barton Hutt in a recent interview. " If you beat the FDA in court, you have an angry FDA that is willing to slit your throat. When the FDA loses a case, it has a mind like an elephant. It’s just something you’ve got to understand about the FDA. Once the agency makes a collective decision, trying to make it let go is almost impossible. These are FDA crusades -- in a real sense they are vendettas. " And that is exactly why the Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee of the House Commerce Committee is holding hearings on FDA abuses of authority. Ironically, shortly after Dr. Burzynski’s lawyer testified about FDA retaliation, the FDA withdrew permission for Dr. Burzynski to test an AIDS drug he developed. Clearly the FDA has lost sight of its mission. At the July 25 hearing, Congressman Burr called the FDA’s treatment of Dr. Burzynski " the worst abuse of the criminal justice system I’ve ever witnessed. " He called for the FDA employees involved to be exposed, fired and criminally prosecuted. Return to top page
