I really don't know about the effexor. He just told me that by going

off of the Tofranil and the Effexor it would be easier for me to lose

weight. One thing that I did about a year after I was diagnosed with the

depression was to see a psychiatrist. I used to think that " counselors "

were for well people who were having problem but pyschiatrists were for

" mentally ill " people. I had a hang up about it. But then I realized

that my primary care physician did not know a lot about anitdepressants

and I wanted someone who did. My doctor's secretary found a special

number that she records for insurance that says I am going to him for

MEDICAL treatment and more is covered than if I were going for

counseling and I get 1/2 hour appts instead of 1 hour. This has really

worked for me and I have a lot of faith in him. I used to be on a

newsgroup for compulsive eaters and a lot of them were saying that

Celexa was better. I don't really know how new it is. If I were you I

would mention the kind of depression you are experiencing to your

doctor. It made be the side effect of another medication, it could be

stress, rather than depression. I do know that my girlfriend had those

shots for birth control and when she went for a gyn check up last month

the doc told her the effects of the shots are still in her body even

though it was before she got pregnant and her baby is now 17 mos old.

It never hurts to ask the doctor about these things. Remember, you are

paying for that medical care.
