I was not paying 100% attention, but it just seems to complicated to me.

With atkins, i know what i can eat, i eat it, and that's it. I don't want

to know from balancing anything.....and as i said, the reward meal would

kill me....

Cathy,

Ketosis is explained in Atkins book on page 57-63.

It says that when you burning Ketones you are burning fat, now they said when

you body is burning ketones it is burning poisons!! How can not burning

poison be good?? At least I thought that is what they said?? They confused me

on this point. Frist they said ketosis was bad, and never really said why and

then when explaining ketosis they said it was the burning off of poisons from

eating not enough carbs. She didn;t explain it exactly like that but thats

what I got out of it. I am going re-read that part tonight and see if I can

unconfuse me!! There is too much going on around here right now.

I interpreted it to mean that being in the " dark purple " ketosis was bad.

And, you really only get to that many ketones if you're not drinking enough

water....not flushing out the ketones, poison, whatever. I know they just

said the blanket statement " ketosis is bad " , though. I feel good about the

Atkins plan and what he says about it. My weight is coming off slower than

I'd like (16 pounds in 7 weeks), but I feel much more energetic than I used

to. And, I know I'm not disciplined enough to have a " reward meal " each and

every day. I have one " reward day " per month. I just had it Saturday and

didn't gain, thank goodness! The next reward day isn't til Thanksgiving

now, so I have to be good! Oh, well, I've rambled on.... just wanted to

give my interpretation of ketosis and cad.

I know that I would cheat on the diet from Oprah. It sure sounded like the

people were trying to eat all the good foods and still stay on the program and

the authors kept telling them thats not how you count the foods. Oprah said she

still had 5 min. left in her hour so she had a piece of choc cake!!! I could

stuff myself in that hour. Penny I am doing a happy dance for you, for you

being a pound down! WTG. Mollie I ordered my crackers today. Can't wait

until they get here.

I agree with you Cathy it is confusing I did research

on ketosis when I started this diet I even had the

blessing of 2 uroligist that say being in ketosis

dosent harm you unless you are in the large and

darkest purple for a long time(this means your

dehydrated)and that can damage your kidneys. Sorry

but I will take the say so of 2 speaialist over this

Dr. because I know my Dr.s are lisiened and really

did go to med school and not just have a doctorant

degree.

They just want their names out there to sell or gain fame. There was

a ridiculous news article out there yesterday that said that some

doctor in some government role somewhere said that gaining weight is

due not from genes, but only from less exercise and more eating, and

that's all there was to it.

They'll argue their points forever. All we have to understand is

that it works for us and that we feel better than before. I

personally have not heard of anyone becoming sick or dying from doing

the Atkins diet. Has anyone else? It's been around for 20 years!

Cathy-

I also wondered about the Ketosis thing. To be honest that kinda

shocked me and made me a little nervous, saying that it's poisioning

your body. And they didnt say that that a trace or med. amount is ok,

just large is bad.. I would definately like to know more about this!!!

I'm going to search online and see what I find., i'll let everyone know!
