did anyone catch anything on the CBS Local Tampa channel evening news last

week about a central Florida man dying from (and I quote) 'mad cow' disease?

My mom just got back yesterday from there and said she was shocked that they

specifically said that this man died from mad cow disease and that you got

mad cow from eating beef. She said they even showed the cows with the

disease and interviewed his neurologist who also said it was mad cow

disease!! Please let me know if you know anything about this broadcast and

who the journalists are that did the piece. thanks.... Liz

Liz,

My son lives in Orlando. I'll e-mail him right now and ask if he

happened to notice this on the news. They generally carry " central Florida "

news in Orlando rather than just Orlando local news.

Liz,

Just sent the e-mail. One other thought - I'm not surprised that they

referred to it as " mad cow disease " . In visiting Orlando we've noticed that

the local news has a 'sensationalist " tone to it, almost National Inquirer -

like at times. They cover lots of blood & gore and off-beat stories. So I

can see where this type of story would appeal to news people there. I hope

my son saw this story, but he is a full-time college student who works almost

full-time, too, so I'm not sure if he watches much local news. He tends to

watch CNN, but I thought I should at least check with him. Will let you know

only if he did see it.

Liz,

I'll ask my father in law. He's directly east from Tampa on the other coast

in Cocoa Beach. He might have caught the news story. He would certainly be

tuned into Mad Cow Disease.
