Guest guest
Hey all! I received the " welcome message " and was asked to tell about myself. I'm Glyn, 36, married with one beautiful daughter who turned 6 today! We live in Mobile, Alabama. I started Induction on Oct 23rd and did my " Friday Weigh In " after Day 6 with slightly disappointing results. I only lost 1.5 pounds! HOWEVER, I am supposed to get my " monthly bill " today and always GAIN weight during PMS week so I probably shouldn't be disappointed. I only drank water (avg 100oz daily), stayed under my 20 carbs, and only ate things on the list before 6pm. I also worked out one hour per day. 10-15 miles on my exercise bike and 30 minutes strength training rotating upper/lower on alternate days. I'm hoping to get the big whoosh next week. I've gone thru two birthday parties already this week and have two more to go thru today and tomorrow (I didn't mind missing out on the cake and icecream, but the chips and dips and booze were tougher)...also I'm taking my daughter to Mcs and Baskin Robbins today. And then there IS Halloween... Hanging in there at Day 7 230/228.5/145 Have a great weekend everyone and I'm glad to be aboard! Glyn --- There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who are good with words, and those who are... erm... thingy.
Guest guest
I had or have some of the same symptoms. The shooting knife pains (or ice-pick headaches) was my first symptom that led to my ACM diagnosis. I am not sure if it was actually caused by the Chiari or if it was just coincidence, but any rate, that pain is what led me to the doctor who ordered an MRI & found the Chiari. I had the same type of migraines (along with many other types of headaches), but those are now gone. It felt like it was actually originating in my left eye & circling all the way around it. What a horrible feeling! I know that fatigue, dizziness, memory loss, neck pain and ring in the ears can all be associated with ACM. Surgery is not always the way to go. Some prefer to just deal with symptoms as they arise. The decision to have brain surgery is not to be taken lightly, but if your symptoms are progressing and interfering with your function during the day, then surgery may very well be the way to go. Hope this helps a little. a in Washington I'm new! Good day to all! This is my first time here, so I hope you don't mind all the questions etc. My name is Adéle Gross and I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. All of you might agree with me when I say that here in SA the neurologists aren't very helpfull with tips and help on ACM. I was diagnosed with ACM (6mm) last year (2002) in April after all sorts of tests and scans as well as a lumbar puncture. My neurologist put me on a load of medications, which did not do a thing for my symptoms except for making the dizzy-spells worse. I originally went to the neurologist for my constant migraines and headaches, but since then I have experienced more pain and difficulties. I was hoping that someone can advise me whether the following symptoms can be associated with ACM. - Migraines (mostly in and around my left eye) - Permanent headache - Shooting pains (like a knife through my head) - Neck pain and stiffness (permanent neck pains, but stiffness lasting for weeks) - Lower back pain - Left knee that sometimes just collapse when standing - Fatigue - Memory not what it used to be - Dizzy spells - Funny zing noise in ears Is an operation the only way to go? I'm looking forward to hear from you. Guest guest
Adele, Here is a website you might find useful...it lists the major symptoms that most Chiarians have experienced. I haven't had the surgery, so I can't tell you anything about that part, but I'm sure you will receive a lot of responses. This is a wonderful and supportive group of people. Glad you could join us! - Tammy http://www.yvy69.ukgateway.net/2/Symptoms.htm _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8.
