Thanks Moria, Yep, for sure I will chelate in ten days with ALA alone. You

interpreted that right. i think i was getting stomach problems with the DMSA.

(I was so happy to have gotten it without script too.....)

After day one the DMSA was hitting me hard, with regurg, stomach ache and

then the inevitable " behavior " that seemed ridiculous to me the following

day--off the DMSA and still on the ALA.

I also have mind problems on sodium bisulfites. I will talk about something

as if I am " off. " Sodium bisulfites really make me sick, with vomiting, and

other problems. Once I got some in a salad, vomited all night and asked for a

psychiatrist in the hospital because I thought I was crazy. He sort of talked

to me and left and then I stayed on IV's for three days. Then I was released

and the doctor (called from another state) and said " I think you might have

had an allergic reaction to something.....) Hey that was back in 1981 or 82

and eating out is definitely " at my own risk. "

I don't know what to test for vis a vis sulfites or sulfur problems. As I

told Andy I can eat broccoli and other high sulfur foods, eggs, etc. but not

sodium bi-sulfites. He said I think--that these are two different detox

mechanisms. Cannot remember.

So, we should get our cysteine levels, right? Why? Where? Anyone? Thanks, SJ

ALA doesn't chelate lead. DMSA does. I don't think DMPS does,

but I'm not certain.

I take it you have high lead also?

best wishes,

Hello everyone,

I have taken DMSA every 4 hours for 3 days. This is day 4 and I am

not taking anything, but I feel a bit sickish and I have a sore back

and neck.

Does anyone else have this experience? Does it matter? I had

thought of going down to 50mg, but I don't know where to get 50mg

capsules.

I'd be glad of any feedback.

I just completed my fifth round of DMSA....

While taking the first four rounds, I noticed improvement in my symptoms

while taking the DSMA. This time, however, I felt worse while taking the

DMSA and noticed that one pupil was slightly larger than the other. Is this

normal? Does this mean the DMSA is now starting to pull mercury out of my

brain?

Thanks,

Dana

is. Notice that these are two different issues. One issue is how

long to wait, after amalgam removal, before using ALA. That's 3 months,

and the reason is to make sure that the mercury that you were exposed to

on removal has settled into the tissues of the body, and that some

equilibrium has been reached between the body and brain. Before this

point, you can use DMSA and DMPS, because they won't have the effect of

moving the higher body concentration of mercury into the brain. After

this point, when equilibrium is reached, you can start using ALA.

The other issue is how to deal with lead poisoning. For that you need

DMSA on a schedule of 3 days a month for years. The reason is that the

lead is in the bones (rather than the soft tissues, as in the case of

mercury) and takes a long time to leech out. So, little by little, you

clean out the bloodstream, which allows more to slowly leech out.

Notice that DMSA will not take lead out of the brain. Andy has said

that ALA _might_ take some lead out of the brain. I take that to mean

that there is very little data.

Dave.

Assuming that you also have mercury and other metals to chelate out

you would want to chelate more than 3 days a month in the first couple

of years or so (people often do rounds every weekend or every second

weekend).

Once you are satisfied that you have chelated most of the _other_

metals out, then you chelate more just to be sure, then you would want

to continue to chelate about once a month for several years to get the

lead as it turns over from bone.

is,

I remember seeing posts by Andy in the archives on lead metabolism,

and lead in the brain. I don't know if it changes how you chelate, but

he has said that it changes the chelation progress profile from what

is typical for mercury. (It becomes similar to those who are very

mercury toxic).

For example:

I know, but it won't go any faster. Once you use the DMSA for 3 days,

the lead in the blood has been removed. It then takes a couple of weeks

for more to leech out from the bones.

Of course, since you're mercury toxic too, more DMSA chelation can help

with that, though it would be more helpful to spend that time with ALA

(assuming the initial 3 months post amalgam removal have passed). Also,

DMSA does have a potential and rare (but quite dangerous) effect on

neutrophils, and I tend to be cautious, so I don't use it more than I

have to. (I'm both mercury and lead toxic too. The lead is coming down

slowly ... I just hope the ALA can get it out of the brain.)

Dave.
