Hi - had a 2.5 hr discussion with Mark Kennedy of the Ottawa Citizen tonight.

Was very interesting, he is quite familiar with CJD and has interviewed the Utah

Epidemiologist, Kurt Soffe of the Utah Funeral Directors, Beth -

founder of CWD at the U of WY, Tracie McEwen for about 2 hours today, Bayer Co.

and others. His article will be in the Ottawa paper either this weekend or

next. He will write it tomorrow, email it and travel home Thursday. It is

good that Tracie found the strength to talk with Mark. Am sure it will really

help his story. Will have a photo of McEwens in the picture.

We will get an electronic copy for distribution on Voice. He thought the

article would run in several papers across southern Canada.

Mark's office mate wrote the story on the Canadian army getting the CJD

contaminated vaccine that has been on Voice this week..

Kurt Soffe brought up an interesting point for those who insist on a cranial

autopsy and still want an open casket funeral. With the autopsy, there is

considerable risk of comtaminating the hair and the forehead with cranial

liquids or material, such as bone dust, blood, etc. How do they sterilize the

forehead and how do they prevent the visitor from kissing the deceased on the

forehead? Use a thin veil????? Tis a source of potential exposure.

My plans have changed, will not see Tracie on Wed, maybe Thursday. Mel in SLC
