Hi, I just wanted to update everyone on my son (7).

He has EE, and had his 4th endoscopy and biopsy recently.

He had been taken off all other meds 6 weeks prior to

the procedure and was put on Gastrocrom for 6 weeks.

After the endoscopy the doctor told us he still looked

" extremely bad " and that it didn't appear that the

Gastrocrom had helped. So he was put back on Prilosec,

and we stopped the Gastrocrom.

Last night the doc called and said he had just reviewed

the slides from the biopsies and it looked like there

was a 40% improvement over his last biopsy. I couldn't

believe it!! So it's back on the Gastrocrom, and will

continue Prilosec along with it. This is the first

bit of improvement we've had since we discovered the

problem 2 years ago. The doctor says he is still

very severe though. I have to try to not get too

excited, and remember that he was in the hospital

recently for vomitting blood.

Also, we just had the RAST allergy testing done and

will get the results back next week. It will be

interesting to see how that comes out.

Maybe, just maybe we are onto something here.

If anyone elses child is taking Gastrocrom, Have you

had success? How long has your child been taking it?

I'll keep you all posted and let you know what we

find from the RAST testing next week.

Have a super weekend

Gastrocrom actually fell out of favor quite a while back. I would

really have to question if the gross appearance was so bad and the

microscopic was " 40% " better, does that mean he is still 60% inflamed???

Have you tried flovent (fluticasone) or an elimination diet which are

the cornerstones of modern-day therapy???

Where are you located?

Killian,2, IEE (NG); SJHarlow@...

BJ took Gastrocrom, starting at 18 months, started showing improvement and

his last biopsy in November was clean of eosinophils.
