Guest guest
Martha, Hi Martha, Welcome. I'm B and I too am a diabetic and a compulsive overeater. I think that all of us are finding different things that work for us on this plan. One thing that does not work for me is weighing every day. I prefer once a month because I have a lot of weight to lose and also because that is what I learned in OA, but for now I am doing once a week. Otherwise, it is too discouraging because I am losing very slowly. The thing that kept me going though has been my blood sugars! I have gone from 40 units of insulin in the am and 45 units in the pm to 20 and 25. My endocrinologist is thrilled with the improvement. Plus my sugar seems to be very stable. I am a teacher and I did find that my sugar went up a little from the stress of going back to school but now it has stabilized again. I feel terrific! I have not felt this good in at least 10 years. As a compulsive overeater I have found that I have to watch the snacking with the freedom we have on this plan to eat so much food if we are hungry. So if I think I want to eat I go for another glass of water first, then in five minutes I ask myself " am I really hungry? " I also have to watch my meals, remind myself that Dr. A says in the book to NOT eat to fullness but only to the point of not being hungry. I enjoy my protein so much sometimes that it is too easy to reach for a another piece of meat. I am trying to watch that now. Good luck. This way of eating DOES seem to improve blood sugars, triglycerides and cholesterol. B > Hi!, My name is Martha and I just started the diet on the 6th and have seen no results so far. I am a diabetic and really want to get my sugar level down. I am a compulsive eater I think because I eat > whether I'm hungry or not. Seems I do it just for something to do. I would really like to loose about 70lbs. Any words of encouragement would ne deeply appreciated. Thanks > Martha
