Dear ,

I may be to late, because I am just now sitting down to

look at all the messages. SNOW DAY!!!(again) Does anyone know when

Spring is suppose to get here?

My husband Tom and I went in with my 8 year old son to help

hold and calm him for his EGD. He had a series of biopsies from the

stomach and small intestine area. Our GI let us bring in a tape recorder

of Matt favorite music, the sound track from Space Jam) and his stuffed

animal. I am glad that we were there because Matt had a reaction to the

medications which they gave him to put him under. I was glad that I was

there, but it is not for everyone. I remember a nurse telling me once,

during another awful test, that if I could not help hold him, then she

would get someone who could. I found that I have to separate myself from

the situation and afterwards I react. During the test, the doc

communicated everything that he was seeing and doing. My husband found

it very informational. I just kept my eyes on my son. It was much

harder on me than it was on . When he came around, he wanted to

check out the cafeteria and gift shop. He complained about a scratchy

throat but that soon passed. The last thing that he clearly remembered

was getting the IV. He has the pictures and it has been a conversation

piece for his class.

This was at Maine Medical Center, located in Portland, Maine. In

fact our GI wanted us to be in the room during the procedure with Matt.
