Guest guest
On Nov 15 we trekked to NYC to see Dr Sicherer and Dr Sampson. No new revelations. Dan was put on a rice type elimination diet starting Dec1. The only foods he can have are as follows: rice, spinach, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, chicken, apple, pears, peaches(cooked forms), vinegar, sugar, salt, and olive oil. It will be a challenge for an 18 year old that eats pizza for lunch everyday. I have a few questions: How long does on have to be on the elimination diet for it to work? They suggested 2 months. How long before introducing new foods will eos and inflammation come back? Does anyone have any recipes for this type of diet? Or can direct me to some sites that may have some? We have also decided to have him tested for Ig deficiencies since there are so many Ig related diseases on my side of the family. Thanks for all the help. Mother to Danny IEE just turned 18 yesterday.
Guest guest
Hi , I am not sure how sick Danny is, but really this is the way to get treated in my opinion. It is strict but it works. First do Endoscopy with biopsies......see how bad the disease is. If pretty bad put the child on elemental formula...i.e. Neocate, Vivonex or Elecare. Wait about 2-3 months and then redo the endoscopies and biopsies and see how much better it gets. If still really bad.....start on a steroid treatment, whether it be prelone, or the inhaled steroid that Steph used to use (I can't remember the name) it's for esophogitis only though. Anyway....start on the steroid treatment and see if the symptoms get better and then in a few months redo the endo's and biopsies....if the child is still failing to thrive then you would have to look at options like IV nutrition otherwise known as TPN through a central vascular line. Just my two cents.........and of course my opinion. [eosinophilic gastroenteritis] Update on Danny > > > On Nov 15 we trekked to NYC to see Dr Sicherer and Dr Sampson. No new > revelations.
