Guest guest
Steph, Thanks so much for your input. No, other than being justifiably suspicious of foods, (based on his negative experiences from getting sick), he has reasonably good appetite and oral skills. We coincidentally started on flovent 6 weeks before putting the g-tube in to manage his asthma. Asthma and stomach aches both decreased dramatically. Still went ahead with the g-tube because he was down to eating soy formula and bologna, both of which were causing problems but based on experience, skin and Rast test, really couldn't figure out a " safe " diet that would meet nutritional needs. His eosino count was 16% with a total level of almost 4000, and despite the fact that he wasn't as sick as some kids can be with this, the consensus was that we wanted to get some control over this and give his system a rest. I'm still being told here that somehow the elemental diet will " heal " his system and that once " healed " he will have good potential to resume a semi-normal diet using gastrocrom. I'm not picking up any thing to back this up from this list. Any more word on Pediatric Vivonex vs Elecare? My docs here would rather stick with vivonex until we go to Mt Sinai to see what they say. (Nov 5th) We're planning to get all of our direction on diet from them, so we really just have to stick it out a few more weeks. Since it isn't a trip we'll be able to make often, I'm just trying to arrive prepared and not have to back up and start over. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. This group is a blessing. Vicki, mom to Zac, age 7 and iel, age 4, EE, probably also EG but not as severe, severe allergies, reflux, asthma, and when he feels good a really wonderful energetic kid!
