Guest guest
I will send some reflux links tonight when I am on my home computer. Clayton also had severe reflux - which required surgery to fix and he was not going to outgrow his. He was on meds from the time he was 3 days old until he had surgery at 16 months and is acutally still on a low dose on zantac a year after surgery. BTW Phyllis - what is the recipe for popped rice? I could use some recipes for the following foods as CLayton basically has such a limited diet and gets bored. He eats apples, rice, potatoes, chicken, pears and watermelon and rice and corn pasta. Any suggestions? Love, Sharon
Guest guest
Hi. It was great speaking with you yesterday. Yes, reflux causes swallowing problems. Remi had it, but grew out of it. AJ still has it. She was diagnoised at 4 days old. The stomach sends the food/acid/liguid back up the esophagus. Depending where it stops, is where you will see a problem. If it is just going up the esophagus and right back down, it will burn the throat. AJ's throat can get so bad that it hurts for her to talk. Some kids, espeically babies, can't hold anything down. Not to be gross, but AJ will say, mom I just threw up, but swallowed it. The worst part-to me-is when she refluxes and it goes into her lungs or aspirates. Then you have breathing problems. AJ would reflux and stop breathing. She did propulsid. It is supposed to move the food thru the system faster so it doesn't have a chance to come back up. She also did Zantac. It tastes terrible and it was a chore to get her to take it. Zantac helps control the acid in the stomach. Even it the stomach is empty, you can still reflux. AJ takes prilosec. It does the same thing as Zantac, but comes in a capsule. We open it up and pour it in. She is willing to take this. I have to run. Hope this helps a bit. Keep in touch. Guest guest
Actually Prilocec and or Previcid is a " Total Acid blocker " . It works much better than the typical Zantac type med's.
