Kelsey,

We were all diagnosed with idiopathic eosinophilic esophagitis and

that's all it took. You need to get hooked up with a home health care

company and get the juice boxes (they have to bill TRICARE for you) --

If you're military, you should have your doc speak to ours (at WAlter

) about treatment options and ways to get the needed supplies. YOu

can always get a referral here; some people on this list have even

gotten the military to send them here to see him.

There is NO point in doing an elemental diet if you can't do it full

force. If you can't find a way to do neocate only (we also drink

Kool-Aid, some jellos and some popsicles -- those wITHOUT fruit juice),

you may want to just consider a REALLY restricted diet until you CAN go

on a truly elemental diet.

I found when I cheated that I had chest pain within 12-24 hours of

eating something, then it made it easier to not cheat again, it just

isn't worth the pain.

Hi --

I'm Cindy, Kelsey's Mom. I really appreciate the information you've

been sharing about Neocate--please send whatever details you can that

will help us obtain what she needs without breaking the bank. I hate

having to be concerned about costs, but with four kids (I know you

have five, so you can more than relate) we have to use insurance

benefits as much as possible. I feel that this concern only adds to

Kelsey's stress, even though she doesn't say so. On the other hand,

she is 18 and reality is something she must deal with--in a few

months, she'll be out of the house, off at college (still supported

by us and hopefully returning often, but making many more of her

decisions independent of mom and dad!!!)

Anyway, one piece of information I know we'll need is the name of

your doctor and how he can be reached by Kelsey's doctor. If there

is any written info you already have in hand, you can send it by e-

mail or fax, depending on your equipment--I've arranged my life so

that I work out of the home, and have fax and other equipment

available. That's one of the positives of a home office! My fax

number is .
