Hi, I posted a month or two back about my son. We are

still looking for answers. My son just got out of the

hospital after vomitting blood the other night. He is

7 years old. He has been treated for the past two

years for what they thought was GERD. He recently has

had two ph probes that showed no stomach acide in his

esophagus. He has had 4 endoscopies w/biopsy which

show severe inflamation of his esophagus and eosinophils.

The doctors are no longer recommending fundoplication

surgery, but cannot tell us what is causing the

esophagitis. He is currently taking prilosec (40mg./day)

Other than this he is a very healthy guy. He does not

have any other symptoms, and has been tested twice

for food allergies (skin prick) both negative. He never

complains of tummy ache, has no digestive problems, and

does not throw up after eating. His case is very severe.

The surgeon involved in his case wants to go ahead with

the surgery because the Upper GI showed reflux. His

GI says no, because of the two negative ph probes.

Now the ???'s

Does anyone know of any doctors who specialize in EE?

he sees a very good pediatric GI in San Diego, but at

this point we will try just about anything.

Is it possible to not get accurate readings from the

ph probes?

Anything else cause this besides food allergies and

reflux? He has been tested for Crohns, bacteria, virus

etc. He has no eosinophils in his stomach or intestines.

Any info or support would be great. Thanks

If you know of any doctors who might be of help

please let me know.
